Best Defender

The Football School which the boy attends, conducted the yearly Inter Center League. This time in his age group, his Center topped the category and he was awarded the Best Defender. Needless to say, he was thrilled!

School Trip

So yesterday we dropped the boy for his Pench school trip. 5 am flight to Nagpur and a bus from there. Some 40 children from his Grade. This is the first time he has been away from us (sleepover in neighbor's apartment does not count :)) It was a bit surreal and mixed emotions. Watching him walk away with a backpack and trolley suitcase to board his flight. The scene may happen again and who knows he may go away for higher studies once school is done. I think it was a good emotional drill :) He will be back on Saturday night. The house feels quiet. There is a some relief that I have a kind of routine back, but yeah I miss him.

New School shoes

The boy has finally graduated from velcro shoes to lace-up ones from Bata.

Cooking

 And the boy has learnt to make Maggi noodles on his own. We have to light the stove for him though.

Minecraft

New craze has started. The boy intends to buy the Minecraft book, plays it on the laptop and TV time is spent on watching YouTube videos of it.

Double achievement

Participated in a skit in the GP Showcase at school. Although it was a short part, the boy was good. He also got his Green Belt in Taekwondo today.

Video games

 After a lot of asking and hoping, the boy has taken the plunge and started on the FIFA video game on my backup mobile. He gets to play 30 minutes a day.

Wife's slippers

He has grown so tall that he has started the wife's slippers when his own slippers broke. "Amma, I am taking your slippers"  And just like that...

Took him to watch Black Panther Wakanda Forever and the boy was happy.

Fracture

And the boy got a hairline fracture on his left wrist. He was tackled in the football practice and while falling down landed on his left hand. Icing did not help and he still complained of pain. X-Ray confirmed it. Cast for 3 weeks along with a sling. Boy is afraid that the children in school will make fun of him, the wife told him it would be the opposite - all will fuss about him.

Signature

I needed the boy's signature for a family form and he was thrilled that he was asked to sign. Proudly scrawled his name :)

Interhouse Football match

I had started physically going to work 1-2 days this month and the boy suddenly called.

His house had won the inter house match and he scored 2 goals! He was thrilled. 

Learned to skip

The boy did a decent job of it. Now need to see how long he sustains it.

Money and getting change

Boy went to shop on his own paid money and got change!

Offline classes!

Or attending school physically as they call it.

Ever since the boy heard that he can go to school for 2 days a week, he was super thrilled. He decided that he is going to dream only about that. The previous day his bag was packed and he slept early. The bag was super heavy.

He was so excited that he woke up at 530 am. I dropped him off at 745 am and we will take turns to pick / drop him, K and A in the mornings and evenings.

Video games

And the boy has started on it. Learned about it from his friends. He knows which website to access and has been allowed to play at the max for 30 minutes, not everyday.

Training complete?

For the first time the boy washed up on his own yesterday after potty. 

Emails!

 And the boy has started emailing his classmates - one who stays in the 7th floor in the same building(!) and another friend who is outside the country

Trek

The boy came along too. The presence of Aa and Ah was encouraging enough

It was 2 km one way and steep towards the end. He made it to almost 98% of it. At the end, the hot puris for breakfast made him happy.

Secret Seven

We were not sure if the boy was ready for this. Among the large number of Bad Boys and Magic Tree books that we picked up from Blossoms this time, we also picked a Secret Seven and a Dragon Masters (Tracey West)

The boy read the Secret Seven slowly but loved it. More than him I loved it! Took me back to my school days when I read them - along with Famous Five, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, The 3 Investigators - whatever investigative/mystery books that I could read.

The "big" boys

So the boy has started hanging out with the big boys - playing cricket whenever he can. Morning after school classes he rushes off to play. On the days of no Football class, as soon as the waiting period after lunch is done, he zooms off. He is happy and proud that the "big" boys let him play with them. 

His current age groups friends, especially Kv is not too happy about it.
